It was a very nice ride today. It has been very smoky from all the forest fires in Northern California. Today was the first day in a while that the air was good. I bought another pair of shoes and they worked very well today. I also recorded the first 40 minutes of the ride on my new GoPro video camera. On the ride today, I felt like I actually had a bit of strength, which is very encouraging! … especially since this is only my seventh ride since I began my training. On this ride I rode down Elk Grove Blvd. to the west side of the Interstate-5 Freeway offramp. There is a nature preserve there and a nice lake that would be ideal for some of my early rowboat training and testing. Unfortunately, the lake and the preserve is closed to the public, as it is a protected habitat. It seems that I will have to use the American River for my training and testing.
